I was lucky enough to experience Benjamin’s wisdom and guidance during the bleakest months of the year in early 2023, and he was a ray of infinitely supportive and patient sunshine, offering a spotlight of crisp clarity on the areas of my initially undefined personal and professional quandary.... Benjamin’s genuine interest and gentle questioning led me to understand the psychological barriers I had created throughout my career and in my wider life which placed my personal needs below those of all others. He helped me to acknowledge that I had come to view myself as a functional cog in life’s great machine, and it was true that when we first spoke I found myself on an unending task-wheel and constantly looking ahead to an impossible future where things might eventually slow down and I might get the chance to embrace and enjoy each day. However, his advice was not just philosophical but deeply practical: when discussing the tricky juncture at which I found myself in my job, he was able to provide me with clear steps to consider when approaching line managers to ensure my role could be streamlined and developed in a direction that made it feasible for me to continue in-post longer term. I am now looking ahead to a much more enjoyable and rewarding year ahead, having been relieved of some of the unnecessary additional responsibilities and having been provided with significantly more administrative support. I have also been offered a number of exciting projects later on this year which is a direct response to two meetings with my superiors which may never have happened without Benjamin’s encouragement and inspiration. I cannot recommend Benjamin highly enough to anyone who feels they need that objective laser-focus combined with authentic compassion.
